Young-driver fees usually apply under 25. Vans and premium cars often need 25+.
Payment & bond
Credit card in the main driver's name for the bond (typically NZ$200–500).
Some local suppliers accept debit cards — check the offer details.
Insurance excess
Basic cover is included, with an excess of roughly NZ$3,000–5,000.
Excess reduction lowers this to NZ$0–500 for a daily fee.
Fuel policy
Usually full-to-full: collect with a full tank and return it full.

In-terminal desks typically close around 10pm. Add your flight number when booking — some suppliers wait for delayed pre-booked flights — or choose a supplier that confirms after-hours pick-up.
